about

Chapter SL63.

– Where are we?
– Doc, don't panic. Keep yourself warm. Your teeth are chattering.
– What the h-h-hell is g-g-going on?! Is this Bigfoot?

Two hours earlier.

A heavy door, slammed shut in the face of the pursuers, served not only as a life-saving barrier, but also as a trap. Looking around, Cat realized that he had ended up in a freezer. The undercoat could keep him warm for some time, but his energy had left him. He spent what was left of it on dragging the professor. Frustration and confusion made his heart beat faster. A few moments later, it became obvious that there was more to the room than just the refrigerator. An icy dimension stretched all around. It was unknown how long the fugitives would have to stay there. Spacelunch regained consciousness, trying to explain what hallucinations he had seen as the result of intoxication.

– Hehe! Pure skill and no cheating! The video tutorials on how to start a fire from Travel-TV worked. At least we won’t turn into icicles for the time being.

––––––––

Cold Out accomplishes the transformation of icy swirls into the frame of the unconscious.

The compositional centre of the release is divided into six sectors of varying intensity and degree of viscosity. Two of them are presented as sub-elements, completing and highlighting the main accent. The commonality of the constituent parts can be traced quite clearly as a play of psychoacoustic responses, deliberate disproportions and hidden edges.

The sonic preamble is the vigorous, gritty and knotty "Hurricane Eyes", attractive with its calm background intonation and sometimes intense and frightening radio chatter. The spirituality of Native American culture is woven into "Cold Vibrations", filled with a pretty solid rhythm and tripping samples that resemble the outcries of chiefs. "Backward Waves" pierces with an ornate IDM atmosphere that masterfully balances at the edge between dispersion and atonal contrasts. The cinematic sweep of "I Can Use It" opens a chilling dive into a world of stage illusions, unexpected abstractions and shifting stylistic content. Microlot's first remix sparkles with a twinkle of uncharted depths filled with life forms, electrical discharges and a vast colour palette. The content of the second remix seems light, but not without volume created by fluidity, percussion variety and synthesizer layering.
